Main memory
5.1 Population rules
There are six slots for main memory.

– Memory slot 1 / channel A (DIMM 1A) needs to be populated first.
– Within all channels memory slot 1 must be populated prior to slot 2. Slot 2
must be populated prior to slot 3.
– Install memory modules within a channel in descending order of capacity:
higher capacity in slot 1, lower capacity in slot 2.
– Mixing of RDIMM and UDIMM is not allowed.
RDIMM memory modules
Technology: DDR3 1066 / 1333 buffered single rank (SR), dual rank
(DR) or quad rank (QR) RDIMM memory modules with
ECC. Support for up to 6 RDIMM memory modules.
RDIMM memory modules are only supported by Intel
®
Quad-Core processors (Xeon 3400 series).
