Preface
1.3 Expansions and conversions
Main memory
There are six slots for main memory to be used for maximum six RDIMM
(registered DIMM) or for maximum four UDIMM (unbuffered DIMM memory
modules. Mixing both types of memory modules is forbidden. RDIMM memory
modules are configurable for Xeon CPUs only.
Accessible drives
Three 5.25-inch bays are available for accessible drives. In these bays you can
install optical drives, magnetic tape drives or a multibay (slimline DVD and
ServerView Local Service Display /ServerView Local Service Panel).
LSD/LSP
The system board supports the CSS (Customer Self Service) functionality
(description see the operating manual). You can install a ServerView Local
Service Display (LSD) or ServerView Local Service Panel (LSP) for an easier
identification of the defective components.
Additional expansion cards in the PCI slots
The system board offers six PCI slots:
1 x PCI (32 Bit / 33 MHz)
2 x PCI Express x8 (Gen2)
2 x PCI Express x1 (Gen1)
1 x PCI Express x4 (Gen1)
Trusted Platform Module (TPM)
The server can be equipped with a TPM (Trusted Platform Module). This
module enables programs from third party manufacturers to store key
information.
USB Flash Module (UFM)
The server can be equipped with a USB Flash Module (UFM). This module can
be used as optional memory for software (e.g. VMware) or as a software dongle.
